Secretary’s Report

January 2, 2007

President Ron Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.

Secretary’s Report:  The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Ben reported on the status of our accounts.  One bill was presented.  A motion was made and seconded to pay the bill.  Motion carried.

Governor’s Report:  Walt reported that the NCCC packets will be sent out in the next few weeks.  The “Blue Bars” distribution will be a week late.  The sanction request for our 2007 NCCC sanctioned events (Autocross and Rally) have been sent in.

Social:  Thanks to Walt and Sue Zachmeyer and Don and Kathy VanDeWoestyne for the Christmas party.  This outstanding party continues to be the best attended social event of the year.

Our annual Awards Banquet is scheduled for January 27 at the Lavender Crest Winery.  Social hour begins at 6:00 PM and the banquet at 7:00 PM.  Jill Robins reported she has received reservations for 21 couples to date.  If you are planning to attend, please mail your check (made out to Mid-West Corvette Club) to Jill as soon as possible.

There are still openings for 2007 social events.  So far, the following months are taken:

            May - Denny Waddell

            June - Ben Woolley

July - Ed Cook and Bill Porter

            August - Dave Chambers

September - Neal Schroder and Tom Carroll

            October - Ron Johnson

December - Walt Zachmeyer and Don VanDeWoestyne

If you would like to host a social event, please contact Walt.

Bowling Green, KY Corvette Assembly Factory and National Museum drive is scheduled for May 3-5.  Bill blocked 20 rooms at the Drury Inn (800-325-0720 Group #387925).  There still are hotel rooms available.  Bill forwarded an e-mail with details.

The Black Hills Corvette Classic is planned for July 19-21.  Susan Zachmeyer is handling hotel reservations at the Fairfield Inn in Spearfish, SD.  She will have more details later.

The rally to Hannibal, MO will be May 18-20.  Ron reported room reservations will be at the Quality Inn Suites in Hannibal (573-221-4001).  Plans are to leave Friday morning, have lunch at Muddy’s in Burlington and return home on Sunday.  This rally is the Great River Corvette Club’s Spring Drive.

Speed:  Don reminded us of the April 1 MWC Triple Rally and the July 29 Autocross at The Mark.  It is OK to bring your “tin cars.”  These events are important money makers for the club and we encourage your attendance.

Car Show:  Neal told us of the Rod & Custom Car Show on January 19-21 at the Expo Center in Rock Island.

Historian:  No report.

Parades:  No report.

Quartermaster:  No report.

Charity:  Cindy held two 50/50 drawings for the charity fund, won by Bob Osborne and Chuck Lehman.  She received thank you notes from the Davenport Schools and the Milan Santa.  She sent a donation to the Randy Campbell fund.  Ellen Hobert, Sheila Jones, Kathy Sellevold and Jan Krahl shopped for the Iowa and Illinois Angel Trees.  Dick Krahl’s Diner Club Book project resulted in selling 204 books and the club profited $2,040.

Membership:  Walt has published the updated membership list, which was e-mailed to all members.  Two visitors attended the meeting:  Denny and Rosemary Meyer and Greg Keith.

Sunshine:  Karen sent out 17 cards for the month of December.  A total of 198 cards were mailed in 2006.  New Sunshine workers are Terry Sierens and Mary Boyd.  Thank you, Karen, for your past work in Sunshine.
