Mid-West Corvettes, Inc. Secretary’s Report February 6, 2007
President Ron Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
Secretary’s Report: The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Ben reported on the status of our accounts. Bills were presented for the January Awards Banquet, Sunshine and for the website renewal. He received dues from three new members. A motion was made and seconded to pay the bills. Motion carried.
Governor’s Report: Walt reported that the NCCC quarterly meeting will be in St. Louis in February. He said the National membership listing is up to date and that we have 109 members in the NCCC. Walt and Don will be working on the flyer for the MWCC Rally in April. This is the flyer that goes out to all the clubs in the Midwest Region and needs to be sent out 50 days before the event.
Social: The Bowling Green drive is May 3-5, Dave Chambers asked if there would be any interest in extending this trip for one day to go to Nashville to the Grand Old Opry Hotel. The hotel would cost $170 and need a minimum of eight rooms. They would need to know in the next two months. Anyone interested in going to Nashville, please contact Dave Chambers.
Denny reminded us of the Mopar and 70’s Automobilia Museum drive-out scheduled for February 18, leaving the airport McDonald’s at 9:55 a.m.

A successful Awards Banquet was held January 27 at the Lavender Crest Winery. The committee was chaired by Jill Robins, also Cindy Johnson, Jane Huber and Fay Anderson. This takes a lot of effort and time and we thank you for a good job.
A few changes were made this year in the awards distribution, extending it to the top ten participants who accumulated 20 or more points.
The 2006 Awards are as follows:
For the highest accumulated activity points through attendance, participation and organizational effort for MWCC, the Club Participation Award was presented to Ben and Karen Woolley (30 points).
2nd place - Ron and Cindy Johnson (29 points) 3rd place - Al Fiscus (28 points) 4th place - Denny Waddell (26 points) 5th place - Don VanDeWoestyne (24 points) 6th place - Jerry Paskvan (23 points) 7th place - Randy and Jane Huber (21 points) 8th place - Walt Zachmeyer (20 points) 9th place - Bill Porter (20 points) 10th place - Bob and Terry Sierens (20 points)

For constant commitment and participation as club members to the MWCC, two Corvette Club Activities Awards were presented to Don VanDeWoestyne and Denny Waddell.
For personal commitment, volunteer work and doing the “thankless jobs” for the MWCC, two Personal Commitment Awards were presented to Bill Porter and Al Fiscus.
For commitment and participation as new members to the MWCC for 2006, the Rookie of the Year Award was presented to Gene and Mary Boyd.
For overall performance and commitment to the MWCC, two Outstanding Club Member Awards were presented to Walt and Susan Zachmeyer and Ron and Cindy Johnson.
A new traveling award, the “Denny Waddell Burnout Competition Award” was awarded to Denny Waddell for his efforts in the Hampton Inn parking lot in Effingham at the Mid America Corvette Rally in the Fall of 2006.
Another new traveling award, the “Broken Glass Award” made by Bob Sierens, was presented to Walt and Susan Zachmeyer, for an unfortunate accident during one of our drive-outs.
Two items need to be added to the minutes. They are from the November and December meetings, but were “kept secret” until now so we could surprise Rollie and Pam Bogert.
From the November meeting: Motion was made by Al Fiscus to make Rollie and Pam Bogert “Lifetime Members” to the MWCC. Seconded by Denny Waddell. Motion has to be in writing and voted on at the next meeting.
From the December meeting: Tabled written motion to make Rollie and Pam Bogert “Honorary Lifetime Members” was voted on and passed by the membership. Al moved that the MWCC pay for Rollie and Pam’s hotel room for the awards night, as well as their breakfast the following morning. Seconded and voted on by the membership and passed. Scott Fleming motioned that Rollie and Pam each be given a club jacket from the club store. Seconded and passed.
Speed: No report.
Car Show: Neal told us of the 2007 Iowa-Illinois Regional Auto Show on February 9-11; also the Chicago Auto Show at the McCormick Place on February 9-18; and the 38th Annual Rod & Custom Car Show in Monticello on February 24-25. The Monticello show is a cash award car show.
Historian: No report.
Parades: No report.
Quartermaster: Scott displayed shirts, jackets and caps left from last summer. He will get a committee together to select new spring items.
Charity: Cindy held two 50/50 drawings for the charity fund, won by Alice Lagaisse and Walt Zachmeyer. Walt returned his winnings to the charity fund.
Membership: Walt reported we have 121 members, including three new members. 109 belong to the NCCC. Visitors and prospective members, Tom and Denise Erps attended the meeting.
Sunshine: Terry and Mary sent out 23 cards in the month of January.
Publicity: No report.
Webmaster: Walt paid the dues for the website for 2007. He is gradually adding new information as it becomes available. He will add pictures from the banquet in the near future.
Old Business: We need to continue working to update the Constitution. The Award definitions need to be updated. Recent changes are that the Newsletter Director is now an appointed position and Membership is an elected position and is part of the Board of Directors.
New Business: It was brought up that we will need a chairman for next year’s Annual Banquet. Al Fiscus volunteered Ellen Hobert. If you are interested in working on this committee, please contact Ellen.
Al Fiscus reminded us that our club is now 47 years old. In three years, it will be 50 years and perhaps a celebration is in order. A committee should be established to start making plans. We would attempt to locate all former members.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:43 PM. Motion carried.
Ron invited everyone to City Limits.
Respectfully submitted,
Sandy Paskvan, Secretary
