Mid-West Corvettes, Inc. Secretary’s Report May 1, 2007
President Ron Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
Secretary’s Report: The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Ben Woolley reported on the status of our accounts. Recent bills paid were $200 deposit to the Clubhouse at Arbor Village for the 2008 banquet, and for funeral flowers for Larry Troxell. He received $310 from the company store. A motion was made and seconded to pay the bills. Motion carried.
Governor’s Report: Walt Zachmeyer reported on the list of events for May and June. He has fliers available with details or you can get the information from the internet. He and Don VanDeWoestyne finished the results for the three rallys. The results were approved by the Regional Competition Director.
Social: Thank you to Bud and Sheila Jones and Jerry and Sandy Paskvan for hosting the April Social at the Jones' house. It was a great evening, good turnout and the 20 Vettes in the front yard looked great. There won't be a Social for May due to the Bowling Green and Hannibal drive-outs. The next Social is Saturday, June 2, at Ben and Karen Woolley's house. Ben will forward details on e-mail. Be there around 4:30. (There won't be an Orion car show that day.) Ed and Diana Cook and Bill and Sue Porter will host the July 14th Social. Randy and Jane Huber will host the Social on August 25th.
We leave for Bowling Green at 7:30 Thursday morning, May 3, from Woodhull.
Sunday drive-outs start this Sunday, May 6. As usual, we leave at 10:00 AM from the McDonald's by the airport. The next Sunday drive-out will be May 20.
The Great River Spring Drive to Hannibal is May 18-20. There are ten cars going. Ron will send an e-mail to those attending.
Speed: Don VanDeWoestyne reminded us of the Autocross set up for July 29th. He needs volunteers to help with this event. Please contact Don. Scott Fleming and Don are trying to set up a Cordova night for our club. Those interested could run your Corvettes on the track. It would be $10 to run the car and you would need a helmet. They are looking at the first few weeks in June on a Wednesday or Friday night. They will send out information on e-mail.
Car Show: Neal Schroder reported on numerous upcoming car shows. Neal has fliers and details about the upcoming shows. The next Quad Cities Cruisers Cruise-In will be May 19 at South Park. There won't be any car shows at the Maid-Rite in the future. Bloomington Gold will be June 14-17 at St. Charles, IL.
Historian: No report.
Parades: Randy Wlaskolich discussed our participation in parades. Last year we took part in three parades. We ask for $10 per car. Last year several cars showed up at a parade only to discover they weren't needed. If an organization expresses an interest in our participation, we need to make it very clear that they will call and cancel ahead of time if their needs change. We will continue for this year and determine our interest for the future. Randy will need a "call-up" list of those drivers interested in driving in parades. Please let Randy know if you would like to be on the list.
Quartermaster: Scott Fleming has the new denim shirts and some polo shirts for sale.
Charity: Cindy Johnson held two 50/50 drawings for the charity fund, won by Mary Boyd and Alice Lagaisse. Mary returned her winnings to the charity fund.
Membership: Walt reported we have 134 members and 105 NCCC members. Guests tonight were Mark Herman who has a 2007 Vette and Jim Drehman who has a 2000.
Sunshine: Mary Boyd reported that 9 birthday cards were sent out in the month of April and Terry Sierens sent out 3 cards.
Publicity: No report.
Webmaster: Walt Zachmeyer asked us to advise of any corrections or updates on the website to help keep it current.
Old Business: Walt talked about Larry Troxell's funeral visitation and processional. We had some members attend the visitation and five cars took part in the processional. Larry will be missed by the Corvette Club.
Ron Johnson presented a Top Ten Club Participation Award to Bill Porter. He also presented a Personal Commitment Award for volunteer work to Bill Porter. (Bill was unable to attend our awards banquet.)
New Business: We had 58 members in attendance, plus three guests.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:42 PM. Motion carried.
Ron invited everyone to City Limits.
Respectfully submitted,
Sandy Paskvan, Secretary
