Secretary’s Report

May 6, 2008

President Al Fiscus called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

Secretary’s Report:  The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Ben Woolley reported that he paid for rally expenses, club store supplies and a deposit to the Arbor Village Clubhouse for next year’s banquet.  He received income from the rally and the club store.  A motion was made and passed to pay the bills.

Governor’s Report:  Walt Zachmeyer reported there was a meeting in St. Louis but the minutes were not yet available.  He reminded us to log onto the NCCC website for all upcoming events.  The website has a wealth of information.

Social:  Bill Porter was not present.  Mark Hermann has a May 18 drive out planned.  Walt said he will plan a drive out to Big Muddy’s, Al will plan one to Apple River Canyon.  Mark Hermann asked who might be interested in an overnight drive out to Wisconsin.  Al challenged all retired members to set up a drive out.

Last Sunday, we had four cars for our drive out to Starved Rock LaSalle Peru area.  We had a good ride and a nice lunch in Utica.

Pam Schroeder and Sarah Carroll volunteered to set up next year’s banquet.  It will be held at the Arbor Village Clubhouse.

Dave Chambers reported a great time in Nashville.  They spent the night in Bowling Green and some members went to the Corvette plant and museum.  Friday they drove to Nashville through a big rain storm.  There was a rumor that some members went to Coyote Ugly and danced on the bar.  Someone must have pictures to verify this rumor.  Some attended the Grand Old Opry and some did a bar tour.  Thank you to Dave for setting up such a fun time.

Speed:  Don VanDeWoestyne thanked everyone who participated and helped with the Rally.  Dave said there were 51 MWCC members who participated in the Rally.

The Autocross is still scheduled for July 27.  However, we do not have a location locked in as yet.

The charity Budweiser night at Stern Beverage is scheduled for Friday, August 22.

Car Show:  Neal Schroder said the car show season is well underway.  He mentioned several May and June shows.  See Neal for more details.  It was suggested that Neal give Walt the show dates and details so Walt can include it on our website.

Historian:  Waldo gave us some historical pictures and news clippings (dated November 1960) from Paul Castle to add to our 40th anniversary booklet.

Parades:  No report.

Quartermaster:  Scott had hats and lanyards for sale this evening.

Charity:  Cindy Johnson held two 50/50 $22 drawings for the charity fund, won by Jim Davies and Ben Woolley.  She reported charity profited $137 from the Rally.

Cindy has recently donated funds to the following:

$200 to the Josh Miller family

$200 to the Jeff Stealy family

$200 to the Handicapped Development Center

$100 to the Quincy (Spina-Bifida) for wheel chair.  She hopes to give another $100 to the Quincy fund.

Membership:  We have 152 members and 113 NCCC members.  New members are Hershel & Wendy Abbott who have an ‘08 red coupe and Michael Boyle and Melody DeSchepper, who have an ‘04 black coupe.  Walt will get a new membership list out soon.

Sunshine:  Terry Sierens sent out several cards this month.

Publicity:  No report.

Webmaster:  If you are planning to host a social, please tell Walt the date so he may put it on our club calendar.  We have a June 21 social coming up, hosted by Sheila and Bruce Petty and Gail and Larry Tucker.

New Business:   Scott told us Cordova has Test & Tune nights on Fridays.  It starts on May 30 at 5:30, races start at 6:00.  Cost is $20 to run your car.

The Matco tool dealer will be invited to the next MWCC meeting.  He will have a tool show at 6:00 before the meeting.

Old Business:   Ron Johnson reported on plans for our 50th Reunion celebration.  He would like to include a car show which would be held at The Commons.  Other suggestions include having someone from the museum and maybe having the NCCC National President attend.  Even though it’s over two years away, committee meetings will start to collect ideas.  Ron, Ben, Walt, John, Don and Randy are on the committee.

Walt said he will call a committee meeting to work on the Constitution updates.  He hopes to have it done by the end of July.

Bloomington Gold is the last weekend in June.  This is a three-day car auction, swap meet, and many vendors.  Their website is Bloomingtongold.com.  Al Fiscus plans on having a swap space at the show.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:56 P.M.  Motion carried.

Al invited everyone to City Limits.

Respectfully submitted,

Sandy Paskvan, Secretary
