Secretary’s Report

June 3, 2008

President Al Fiscus called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

Secretary’s Report:  The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Ben Woolley reported that he paid the Secretary of State for our annual fee.  He received monies from new members and the club store.  A bill was presented for Sunshine.  He said Spring Rally proceeds were $436.11.  Motion made and passed to pay the bills.

Governor’s Report:  Walt Zachmeyer reported our club is in 13th place in NCCC points for attending sanctioned events.  Walt also gave us the point standings for our club.  Denny and Rosie Meyer are currently in the lead.

Membership:  Tonight we have four new members:  Steve and Sandy Johnson from Clinton, who own a 2008 red roadster; and Rich and Cindy Munson from Camanche who own a 2004 yellow roadster.  That brings our total membership in MWC to 158 and 111 for NCCC.  We also had a guest tonight, Paul Mulcahey who owns a 2006 convertible.  Walt will send out an updated membership list soon.

Social:  Bill Porter reported we have a 13-car drive out this Sunday, June 8, set up by Walt.  We will be going to Burlington to eat at Big Muddy’s by the river.  As usual, meet at McDonalds at 10:00 A.M.  There will be a drive out on Sunday, June 22; no specific plans are set as yet.  Tell Bill if you can plan a trip.

Two social events are on the calendar.  Saturday, June 21 hosted by Bruce and Sheila Petty and Larry and Gail Tucker.  It will be at Petty’s in Colona at 6:00.  Bring a dish to pass and your beverages.  An e-mail will be sent out with directions.  Please e-mail the Petty’s if you plan to attend.  A social will be held at Nigel and Jill Robins on Saturday, July 12.  The rest of the months are still available.

If you attended Effingham last year and are not going this year, please tell Bill Porter.  Bloomington Gold is the last weekend in June, held in St. Charles.

Speed:  Don was not present.  Our low-speed event is cancelled as we cannot find a place to have it on our selected date.  Ken Anderson mentioned that September 7 is now an open date and perhaps we could get i-wireless or Cordova.  Flyers need to be sent out 60 days prior to the event.

Neal said we had six cars at Cordova’s Test & Tune night on Friday, May 30th.  It costs $20 to run your car.  They are not too busy on Fridays and they had a great time.  He recommended doing this again and trying to get more people to come out.  You can rent helmets there.

Charity:  Cindy Johnson held two 50/50 $16 drawings for the charity fund, won by Ken Anderson and Lyle Wirth.  Cindy reported she sent a $200 check to Parkersburg for the children.

Webmaster:  Walt added several Corvette related links to our website.  There also is a link from Neal Schroder listing the upcoming car shows.  If you have any social dates or anything for sale, let Walt know so he can add them to the site.

Car Show:  Neal Schroder gave us car show dates for the upcoming weeks. More info on  our website.

Publicity:  No report.

Parades:  No report.

Quartermaster:  Scott was not present.

Historian:  Waldo was not present.  However, he made available more Corvette newspaper clippings from 1980.

Sunshine:  Terry Sierens sent out several cards this month.

Old Business:   Thank you to Mark Hermann for planning the Dyersville drive out on May 18.  We had 30 cars attend this interesting “architectural” tour.

Walt reported on the progress of the Constitution Committee.  We have had one meeting and went through the Constitution line by line.  Tomorrow night we will go through the By-Laws and SOP’s.  When we are done, it will be brought before the members and voted on.

New Business: Mark Hermann showed us the Windshield Wonder (a car window washing tool).  You can find it on http://site.windwon.com/features.html.       It has a 16” handle, microfiber cloth and pivoting head.

Sandi Campie suggested we could have “Tips for Car Care” information on our website.  She is willing to put this together.  If you have something to contribute, please contact Sandi.

We had 55 in attendance this evening and five guests.  A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried.

Al invited everyone to City Limits.

Respectfully submitted,

Sandy Paskvan, Secretary
