Mid-West Corvettes, Inc. Secretary’s Report July 10, 2007
President Ron Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
Secretary’s Report: The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Ben Woolley reported on the status of our accounts. Ben wrote checks to Sunshine and for the trophies for the upcoming Autocross. A motion was made and seconded to pay the bills. Motion carried.
Governor’s Report: Walt Zachmeyer was absent from the meeting.
Social: The Sunday drive-outs have been well attended, averaging about 12 to 15 cars. We recently drove to Maxson Riverside Restaurant in Oregon, IL, to Balltown north of Dubuque and Riverside Casino. The next two drive-outs will be July 22 and August 5. Meet at McDonalds by the Moline airport at 10:00 A.M.
The July social will be co-hosted by Ed and Diana Cook and Bill and Sue Porter at Cook’s house. It will start at 6:30 on Saturday, 14 July. Bring a dish to pass, your own drinks and chairs.
For the 12 cars going on the Black Hills drive, meet at Grandma’s Restaurant at the Walcott truckstop at 8:00 AM sharp, July 18. There will be a drivers’ meeting before we leave.
Speed: Don VanDeWoestyne reported that since Cordova was closed on June 13, our plans did not materialize.
The Autocross is set up for Sunday, July 29th rain or shine at the Iowa Air National Guard airport in Mt. Joy, IA. It will be on the helicopter pad with no poles or lights to watch out for. Don distributed informational flyers and maps. There will probably be 15 other clubs participating in our Autocross. There will be Three Low Speed and a Matched Time event. He needs 30 people to help out and make this a success. Everyone will need to sign a waiver for insurance reasons. Registration starts at 8:00 A.M., first car out at 10:00. It should conclude at 3:00 or 4:00 P.M, then trophies will be awarded. We discussed that we may need to upgrade our timing system in the future.
A motion was made and passed that the club purchase two new 2005 rated helmets before the end of the year for $350 or less. Don will purchase the helmets.
Car Show: Neal Schroder reported on numerous upcoming car shows. If you would like further information or flyers on the shows, please contact Neal.
Historian: No report.
Parades: Alice Lagaisse reported that Larry Lagaisse and Ben Woolley drove in the East Moline July 4th parade to represent the D.A.R.
Quartermaster: No report.
Charity: Cindy Johnson held two 50/50 $15 drawings for the charity fund, won by Ron Johnson and Kenny Anderson. Ron returned his winnings to the charity fund.
Membership: Guests tonight were John Wever who owns a 2001 red roadster and Mike and Carol DeBrun, who own a 2006.
Sunshine: Mary Boyd reported that 12 birthday cards were sent out in the month of June and Terry sent out 13 anniversary and miscellaneous cards for June and 10 for July.
Publicity: Waldo Arnholz will put our Autocross flyer in the newspaper.
Webmaster: No report.
Old Business: Per Randy Carlz suggestion, Denny Waddell presented business card samples. They are two-sided, black with our patches and MWC information on the other side. Denny Waddell will give the club a price break and Jane Huber graciously offered to create the file for the cards, which will also save the club money. Thank you, Denny and Jane. We will need to check on copyright laws. Motion was made to proceed with the cards, seconded and passed.
We had decided to start charging anyone not wearing a name badge in August. However, we will delay this until Walt has had a chance to create badges for new people.
New Business: None.
We had 63 members in attendance, plus three guests.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:55 PM. Motion carried.
Ron invited everyone to City Limits.
Respectfully submitted,
Sandy Paskvan, Secretary
