Secretary’s Report

September 4, 2007

President Ron Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

Secretary’s Report:  The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Ben Woolley reported on the status of our accounts.  Ben wrote checks for club supplies and Autocross expenses.  He received monies from the company store and membership fees.  A motion was made and seconded to pay the bills.  Motion carried.

Governor’s Report:  Walt Zachmeyer reported that the season is over as far as competition is concerned.  There will be a Governor’s meeting in St. Louis this coming weekend.  We now have 105 NCCC members.

Social:  We want to thank the Hubers and Chambers for a great social event held at the Huber residence. The next social will be this Saturday, September 8, at 6:30 hosted by Neal and Pam Schroder and Tom and Sarah Carroll.  It will be at Neal’s place of business, NBA Schroder, 940 Lincoln Road, in Bettendorf.  Please let them know if you plan to attend.  Bring a dish to share, your own beverages and chairs.

Effingham Fun Fest will be September 21 through 23.  We have 20 cars going.  If you are going, you should have your room and should have received an e-mail from Bill Porter with details.  Rooms are no longer available.  There will probably be 6,000 Corvettes at Effingham.

There will be a Sunday drive-out this Sunday, September 9 and also on September 30.      This consists of a day trip and stopping for lunch.  Meet at McDonalds by the Moline airport at 10:00 A.M.

The MWC Fall Drive-Out to Winona, MN is scheduled for October 12 through 14.  We will leave from Hardees in Eldridge at 8:00 A.M. on Friday the 12th .  Please be there by 7:30.  We stay at the Holiday Inn in Winona, have some fun stops planned along the way and a drive through some back roads in Wisconsin and Minnesota.  Call the Holiday Inn at 507-453-0303, use code MCC which is our block of rooms.  We have special rates and the last day to take advantage of this price is September 13.  We return home on Sunday.

Speed:  Don VanDeWoestyne reported this is pretty much wrapped up for the year and thanked everyone for their help.

Car Show:  Neal Schroder reported on upcoming car shows and cruise-ins in September.  If you would like further information or flyers on the shows, please contact Neal.

Historian:  No report.

Parades:  No report.

Quartermaster:  Scott Fleming displayed club merchandise and reported that we have $2,648 in inventory as of August.  There was discussion on how to turn over the merchandise.

Charity:  Cindy Johnson held two 50/50 $20 drawings for the charity fund, won by Bob Osborne and Bill Stine.  The winnings were turned back in to the charity fund.

Membership:  Walt Zachmeyer told us he will be sending out invoices for 2008 membership in the next few weeks.  The membership has to be completed by the end of November so he would appreciate your payment by the end of October.  You will receive  new membership cards, as well as name badges to wear at all meetings and events.  Walt inquired if Denny and Jane could come up with a good quality name badge.   We had 8 new members join tonight:

Bill and Julie Horak - 1990 red coupe

Roger and Amber Koppen - 2008 yellow coupe

John and Linda Weber - 2001 red roadster

Jim and Julie Davies - 1963 blue coupe and 1984 blue coupe

We now have 150 members in MWC.

Sunshine:  No report.

Publicity:  No report.

Webmaster:  Please let Walt Zachmeyer know of any corrections or updates on the membership list.

Old Business:   There was further discussion on whether or not the club should purchase helmets.  This subject has been tabled until the first of the year.

Several club business cards have been given out and seem to be going over well.

Dick Krahl brought us up to date on the Diner’s Club books.  They are sold for $35 and the club’s charity makes $10 on each book.  Members have sold 35 since last month, as well as 20 sold at a local bank.  They make good Christmas gifts and all orders need to be turned in by December 1.  Jill Robins supplied copies of a “cheat sheet” for the coupons.

New Business:   Start thinking about your Halloween costumes!  Ron and Cindy’s party will be October 20.

Election nominations will be held at the next meeting.  If you plan on nominating someone, please discuss it with that person to be sure they are interested.

Don VanDeWoestyne is setting up a “beer sampling” night at Stern Beverage (Budweiser) at 961 Tech Drive, Milan. It will be Friday, September 28 from 6:00 to 7:30.  Be there at 6:00, bring a snack to share and Don’s store will provide Wings and Pepsi.  The Budweiser gift shop will be open.

We had 63 in attendance this evening.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:55 P.M.  Motion carried.

Ron invited everyone to City Limits.

Respectfully submitted,
