Secretary’s Report

November 6, 2007

President Ron Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:02 P.M.

Secretary’s Report:  The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Ben Woolley reported on the status of our accounts.  He paid $3,100 to NCCC and we had income of $2,900 for membership renewals.  A motion was made and seconded to pay the bills.  Motion carried.  Ben will have a 2008 budget prepared by next month.

Governor’s Report:  Walt Zachmeyer reported our spring rally will be on April 6, 2008 and the low speed will be July 27, 2008.  He said 85% of our members belong to NCCC, so we are well above the 51% range.

Social:  Bill Porter thanked Ron and Cindy Johnson for hosting their traditional Halloween party.  There was great chili and brats and several scary and clever costumes.  It was a fun evening, as always.

The next social will be November 17th at Denny Waddell and Fay Anderson’s home.  It will start at 6:30, chicken and ham are on the menu.  Please bring a dish to pass and your own beverages.  E-mail Denny if you plan to attend so they will know how much food to prepare.

Bill will be asking Walt to send out a group e-mail asking for suggestions for future Fall Drives.  Replies should go to Bill Porter.  He also needs to know who is interested and willing to help plan and prepare for the Fall Drive.  We will do whatever the membership of the club wants to do.

The annual banquet will be held on January 26.  Ellen Hobert will have more details to share soon.

Randy and Jane Huber and Bryan and Deanna Glossop have agreed to host the December Christmas party.  They will send out an e-mail to everyone with details.

The 2008 social event calendar is now open season.  If you would like to host a social, please give your date to Bill so he can put it on the calendar.

Speed:  No report.

Car Show:  Neal Schroder reported that the car shows are winding down for the year.  However there is a car show November 17 and 18 in Rosemont, IL.  If you would like further information, please contact Neal.

Historian:  No report.

Parades:  No report.

Quartermaster:  Scott Fleming displayed Corvette shirts and hats for sale.

Charity:  Cindy Johnson held three 50/50 $17 drawings for the charity fund, won by Bill Porter, Bill Porter and Jerry DeMarce.  The winnings were turned back in to the charity fund.  Cindy asked for volunteers to purchase Angel Tree gifts for Iowa and Illinois.

Membership:  Walt reported we now have 140 members in MWCC and 113 in NCCC.  There are six members he hasn’t heard from as yet and there are nine members who did not renew.  We have new members tonight, Ted and Pat Amlong.  They have an ‘80 red coupe and an ‘01 blue roadster.  Guests tonight are Ron and Lavonne Hill who own an ‘08 blue roadster.  Walt will print membership cards and name tags, as well as update the membership list, as soon as time permits.

Sunshine:  Terry Sierens reported she sent out nine cards in October.  Mary Boyd was not present.

Publicity:  No report.

Webmaster:  Walt added some pictures to the web from Waldo.

Old Business:   Dick Krahl reported that the bank at Don VanDeWoestyne’s Jewel Store has sold 82 diner’s club books so far.  Deanna Glossop has sold 8 and Jill and Nigel sold 7, bringing the total to 164 to date.  Dick reminded us that the books make great Christmas gifts, especially for people who are hard to buy for.  Don VanDeWoestyne will take over the diner’s club book project as Dick and Jan are headed to warmer climates.

We received a thank you card from Dan Collins for taking part in the Quad City Flames kick-off on October 7th.

New Business:   We held our club election this evening and the results for 2008 are:

            President:                    Al Fiscus

Vice President:            Dave Chambers  (This was a tie vote between Dave and

Tom Carroll.  Tom deferred to Dave.)

            Secretary:                    Sandy Paskvan

Congratulations to Al and Dave and a huge thank you to Ron for all his hard work in the past years for the MWCC.

There was discussion and suggestions about future Christmas parties for the club.  Since this usually is a very large turnout, an alternative might be to rent a facility instead of having it at someone’s home.

We also discussed possible changes for the future annual banquets.  Perhaps we don’t need door prizes and/or party favors.  We could save the money and give it to charity.  However, Jill reminded us that the banquet and charity are two separate things.  The banquet is not a charity event.  The annual banquet is to come together, celebrate, and acknowledge those who have contributed to the club throughout the year.  The awards banquet committee should make these final decisions.

We had 87 in attendance this evening.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:50 P.M.  Motion carried.

Ron invited everyone to City Limits.

Respectfully submitted,

Sandy Paskvan, Secretary

MEETINGS ARE HELD AT 7:00 P.M. ON THE FIRST TUESDAY OF THE MONTH.
