Mid-West Corvettes, Inc. Secretary’s Report December 4, 2007
President Ron Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.
Secretary’s Report: The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Ben Woolley reported that he received money for membership renewals and paid two bills for postage. A motion was made and seconded to pay the bills. Motion carried. Ben and Randy Huber presented a proposed budget for 2008. Money is set aside for our 50th anniversary celebration. They propose $2,000 for next year and also for 2009 and 2010. Ben also re-introduced our annual picnic in the proposed budget.
Governor’s Report: Walt Zachmeyer said he will turn in sanctions for next year. Also, he turned in all NCCC memberships and that is complete for the year.
Social: Bill Porter thanked Denny Waddell and Fay Anderson for hosting the November social. The December social, our Christmas party, will be hosted by Huber’s, Glossop’s and James’. It will start at 7:00 at CASI on West Kimberly in Davenport. Pork loin will be served. Please bring a dish to pass and your own beverages (only beer and wine are allowed at CASI). They will have the traditional gift exchange. Bring a $10 gift for a man and a women if you care to participate.
Our annual Awards Banquet will be held Saturday, January 26 at the Arbor Village in Moline. Cost per person will be approximately $20. More details soon.
The social calendar for 2008 is open and June and July are spoken for so far. If you care to host a social for next year, contact Bill Porter.
Bill said he did not receive many suggestions or comments regarding an alternative Fall Drive. Several people are still interested in the Winona trip, so Bill has it booked. The dates are October 10-12. He is still asking for other suggestions and help to make plans for any alternatives.
The registration for the FunFest in Effingham is now open. You can go online and register for free.
Vettes on the Rockies will be July 31 through August 3rd, but you need to have your rooms reserved by the end of January. You do have to call the hotel and tell them you are attending the Vette function. This is a seven day trip, two days out, 3 days in Breckenridge and 2 days back. If you are interested, contact Larry Lagaisse or Bill Porter. Speed: Don VanDeWoestyne confirmed our Spring Rally will be April 6. The Low Speed will be July 27. He was approached by the Cedar Rapids Corvette Club to see if we could have a joint two-day event. The National Guard airport may not be available. Don will have more information next month.
Car Show: Neal Schroder said there are no car shows in December, but there is a Custom Rod and Auto Show at the Quad City Expo on January 25-27. More details at the January meeting.
Historian: No report.
Parades: No report.
Quartermaster: Scott will look into lanyards for our name tags and report next month.
Charity: Cindy Johnson held two 50/50 $16 drawings for the charity fund, won by John Earnest and Jim Davies. Cindy reported charity checks were written to the following:

Don VanDeWoestyne said the Diners Club sales are going very well. Members have sold 109 books so far. (Jill Robins 24, Sally Wirth sold 12, Kathy VanDeWoestyne sold 9 and Brian Glossop sold 11.) The bank at Don’s store sold 107, totaling 216. Our club profits $10 per book. Don will complete this project in the next couple of weeks.
Membership: Walt reported we now have 142 members in MWCC and 113 in NCCC. He collected $4,900 in dues and $2,100 went to NCCC. Thirteen members did not rejoin. Walt and Jane are working on membership cards and name tags. A motion was passed to purchase a program for approximately $200 to create professional cards and tags.
Sunshine: No report.
Publicity: No report.
Webmaster: Walt will register our domain name in January for $25. Also, he will pay $95 for the website soon and present his bills.

We had guests tonight, Gary and Linda Allison, who have a new red coupe. Welcome.
We had 43 in attendance this evening.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:46 P.M. Motion carried.
